Ant and Dec, Alan Shearer, Greggs and Andrew Cushin, Newcastle knows how to bring greatness to the UK.
The indie musician visited my home town recently and there was no way I was missing this, especially after catching his incredible set at Kendal Calling in the Lake District at the start of August.
I've seen many shows at Docks Academy, an old church now converted to a brewery and venue but I have to admit, Andrew Cushin is one of the greatest, his loveable character, his showmanship and his song writing combine for a night of pure joy.
The night was opened with a power hitter in "Let Me Give it to You" and from the first notes you could feel Andrew was up for a fun night and you could sense the Grimsby crowd were up to match the energy as they sang along to every word.
Through the night we heard the likes of "You Don't Belong" "Catch Me if You Can" "Waiting For The Rain" and "Memories" It's safe to say his entire setlist for the night was just banger after banger.
His first time playing Grimsby and he stated it definitely won't be the last as he tells the crowd we've made it feel like a hometown show.
Being a football fan, he couldn't miss his chance to bring up Grimsby Town which received a large sing-a-long of one of our popular chants which he let ring out until he announced his last song "Wor Flags" which he dedicated to "The best manager, Eddie Howe"
Coming off the stage he posed for photos, gave out hugs to fans down at the barrier and signed some posters which I imagine was just the icing on the cake for those fans.
An amazing night with an incredible end with a wonderful singalong. Andrew has already smashed his way through this music industry and he's only going to get bigger and better.
Until next time, up the toon!
