Barnsley born Delilah Bon has gone from strength to strength in her music career. We have been gifted with her Brat-Punk creations since 2020, and she continues to provide more unique, rage-filled anthems. Her music articulates important messages, with some obvious, and well received undertones, helping to portray the difficulties of females in modern society.

Newcastle was eagerly awaiting the show at the Northumbria Student’s Union, and not one person left disappointed. Of one thing we’re certain, Delilah Bon can put on a show! The queue was out the door even after opening time, and there was so much excited energy from the fans - including the array of amazing outfits and accessories so fitting for the gig.

The show was opened by Irish alt-metal artist Ailsha. Dublin’s four piece blessed the stage and knew exactly what to do to get the crowd hyped! From the second the lights went down, the band began to entertain, and provide us with their bubbly, but angsty energy, which everyone ate up from start to finish.

Lead singer Ailsha donned a cat ear headband halfway through their set, and dedicated their song to her pet cat (Nugget - AWW). The crowd rightfully adored this, and we’re all ears - sorry - the whole way.

We also got a live performance of a new song “Batshit Crazy” which was explained to represent how Ailsha feels when people dismiss her diagnosis of PMDD. Not only is this relatable for so many, but the song was an impeccable one, that had everyone’s heads banging, and feet tapping.

Ailsha has gained a new fan in us, and we can’t wait to see what they bring next time!

After a short stage change intermission, the venue got what they were all waiting for, the arrival of Delilah Bon! The whole band was oozing happy energy, and it’s always so refreshing to see musicians show so blatantly how much they love being on stage. The whole crowd erupted into cheers and applause, which brought an even bigger smile to the band’s faces.

Delilah Bon are the epitome of bringing angst to the max, and Brat-Punk is personified not only through their style and music, but also in their attitude, which is what makes us love them so much. Delilah had energy for days, with no signs of slowing down even by the last song of the night!

We love how much of a trail blazer Delilah is, and how she uses her voice and platform to promote important messages to the masses. After all, who doesn’t love a bouncy beat that also manages to ruffle some feathers of the patriarchy? The songs and their meanings are instrumental to empowerment, and equity, and are so well written that you can’t help but dance to them.

Each song holds the exact right amount of feminist rage, and is so distinctive, helping to set Delilah Bon apart in the industry in the best way! Fans went for the music, but were also welcomed into a community and safe space throughout.

Delilah successfully continues to provide cathartic release for survivors, and helps so many to have a voice. Creative therapy has so much support, and the evidence from this show alone is supporting evidence enough to see it works.

The whole evening was enticing, welcoming and wholesome in such a unique way, and we loved every minute. We can’t wait to catch Delilah again next time, at what is guaranteed to be a roof blowing event.
