Sam Shields

First things first, it was such a lovely touch having local artists as an opening act. Sam Shields took to the stage like a pro and had a good mix of speaking and singing. Songs were great, and the vocals were very soulful. The venue was still quite busy for doors opening, and Sam had people tapping their feet and swaying along to the music.

Amigothedevil

Floroda quintet, Amigothedevil took to the stage as our second support act, and they were hilarious from the get go. Danny radiated joyful energy, and gave us some very interesting tales of their travel, airport shenanigans and all! They had an eclectic mix of instruments, and a quick - if ominous with spooky music - wardrobe change to a banjo! These songs would not be out of place in an episode of supernatural, and we love it!

The audience were eating the performance up! We're glad they've not been kicked (or CROC'd) from the tours - as lead singer, Danny said he was surprised by - because we would've missed out on an amazing show. Added to our list of must sees for next time they tour the UK, especially if we're wearing our crocs in sport mode.

Frank Turner

From the second the lights went down, the crowd erupted into cheers to welcome Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls to the stage. NX was filled with cheers and woops of anticipation.

The band started off strong with an upbeat track. High energy was given from all members, and the love for their work was evident throughout.

Their loyal fans did not disappoint in showcasing their lyrical knowledge, as well as the band's rules to enjoy a gig! By the second song, a circle pit had opened by barrier, and everyone had the time of their lives.

The crowd were so respectful and responsive the whole night, and the songs were as clean live as they are recorded! We all prefer a show though of course, as the immersive, community experience provides the added oomph to any song.

One of the biggest cheers of the night was awarded to bass player, Tarrant Anderson, when he jumped onto the shiny new stage boxes (whilst starting off reserved, the crowd and Frank managed to coax him into it, and the cheer was well earned!)

We were treated to a super exclusive UK debut of The Leaders - and on the first night of tour! Frank explained the song has only been performed live once before in Canada, so we felt honoured, and what a tune it is! The mandolin addition created a unique spin, and it was certainly well received by the crowd.

Whilst tonight was my first time experiencing all three bands, I am eager to see them all again, and loved every minute of the performance!
