Myles Smith returns to Nottingham to play an intimate show on behalf of Brits week for War Child.
With the Brits coming up, they once again have teamed up with DHL and War Child to bring some of the biggest names in the industry back to smaller venues to help raise money and awareness for War Child, a charity set up to help children caught up in war torn countries.
I was fortunate enough to be able to go along to the Myles Smith show in Nottingham, the city in which he went to university and you could feel the love between him and the fans on the night. But before we had the joys of Myles, we started our evening with Saint Raymond.
Callum (Saint Raymond) opened the evening to an excited crowd and it looked as though his nerves quickly settled with the response he was receiving. Joking how he hadn’t played for a while so was having to google his own lyrics and thanking the audience for being so silent during his set (Although he joked how it frightened him as to why everyone was quiet)
The local went down an absolute treat with everyone in the crowd and if you didn’t know who he was beforehand he certainly made sure you knew who he was by the end of the night.
After a short break, there was a chat about how important War Child is, what it does and why weeks like this are so important, 500 million kids are currently affected by war and that number makes me so incredibly sad. This charity feels so important especially in the current climate. But thanks to these huge names, these shows and the partnership with the Brits we can all help raise so much money to help the people who need it.
After the important stuff out of the way, we were on track to start the party again, and on came Myles and his band who were greeted by one of the loudest cheers.
Opening with ‘Wait For You’ the crowd were in full choir as they sang back every word, and you could see the constant smile on Myles’ face as he was performing.
The band looked to be having just as much fun up and down the stage treating it as if it was an arena sized show. The night was only going to get better as we were treated to ‘Stay (If You Wanna Dance)’ ‘Solo’ and a Melody of covers including ‘Rolling In The Deep’ and ‘Pompeii’
The intimacy of the show was a thing of beauty as Myles was interacting with the crowd, signing a painting someone had done of him and also recording a little video message for someones daughter who couldn’t be at the show.
He talked about Saint Raymond being his inspiration for attending Nottingham University and how he is super grateful for Callum and thanking him for being the support for the night.
Ending the night with Stargazing was always going to be one of the highlights of the night, but it was so much better when he told the crowd he was going to perform the whole song again but with no phones out so we could all live in the moment. The noise of the room went to a whole new level and I’m so thankful that I got to experience this night.
Myles and his music hold an incredibly special role in my life and the night felt so incredibly special for so many reasons. There won’t be many opportunities I get to see him in such small rooms, so this will be one to remember.

Let’s all join together and help make difference and start helping those who need us. No child should be a part of war. Ever.
