Olly Murs hits the Connexin Live after a postponement due to illness and it was absolutely worth the wait.
To open the night we had the legendary BLUE who definitely need no introduction and as they entered the stage the arena erupted with screams, everyone from the 20 year olds all the way up to their grandparents. As they did the typical 'boy band' dance routines and played through their classics of 'One Love' 'All Rise' 'Breathe Easy' and a wonderful rendition of 'Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word'
It was such a joyous nostalgic way to start the night and you couldn't help but smile and enjoy yourself as the set went on.
Olly Murs is someone I've been a fan of since the release of 'Thinking of Me' and although never kept super close tabs on what he was doing and listening to every release, I always enjoyed when his music came on and to finally see him live was worth the wait.
As the lights faded the big screen started playing footage of Olly playfully smashing the screen, and then up he appears with his opening song 'Troublemaker' and again, the eruption of screams and cheers echoes through the arena (and probably most of Hull)
A true showman and a master of his craft, the cheeky chap from Essex certainly put his everything into the performance.
With a huge stage production which he took full advantage of as he was up and down the stage and up onto the risers dancing around, he's certainly keeping himself fit doing this each night.
Performing songs from different stages of his career, taking us on little journeys of his life and experiences, you can see the joy Olly has being able to perform like this to a room full of adoring fans (Who also kept wanting him to take more than just his shirt off)
In the middle of the set, Olly asked if fans knew what year he was born in which the room erupted with "1984"and as he tells them they're correct and he recently celebrated his 41st birthday, he then treated the crowd to a mini ballad of 80's classics in which he went to the barrier of the crowd and sang to and with them.
As the show went on the backboard kept showing footage and photos from the last 15 years (as well as a funny behind the scenes photo from the band) we also had the joys of listening to him sing alongside Darren and John, as well as a beautiful duet with Katie.
As the night draws on we get the beautiful tribute to Caroline Flack which fills the room with emotions, before finishing on upbeat songs such as "Heart Skips a Beat" and "Dance With Me Tonight"
Olly is a true showman and an incredible live performer, I hope this won't be the last time I get to see him live and I certainly won't be forgetting the show for a long time.
