Weezer bring the Beverly Hills weather to Halifax Piece Hall.
Californian pop-rockers Weezer are only in the UK for a short period of time, but its enough to pop by the historical Piece Hall and put on one of the best nights of the year.

Starting the evening we had a band called "Teen Mortgage" who I'm not overly familiar with, and although a fun and fast punk rock band that got the crowd moving, for me I couldn't help but feel something was missing, as after every couple songs they would stop playing to either tune or change effects and there was just silences where there could have been a little back and forth with the crowd. But that's just my opinions, on the night everyone I spoke to really enjoyed them and hopefully we'll get to see more of them and watch them grow.

Next up was punk band Bad Nerves from Essex.
I'd heard plenty of exciting things about this band with a few friends going to see them regularly and after this set, I fully understand why they keep going back.
The Lively five piece band seamlessly flowed through their set like masters of the art. Getting the crowd involved in sing-a-longs and little bits of banter. The band were just full of energy as they all ran around and bounced around the stage, definitely bringing a whole new energy into the night and one that didn't seem to drop off.
Bad Nerves are often found touring so if they're coming near you I would highly recommend going to catch them as I'm certain they'll become a band you listen to regularly.

Now onto a band I haven't seen live since 2010. A band I've grown up adoring and listening to regularly. The Blue Album was played over and over again when I was a kid finding my way though music, which is funny as it was released the day before I was born.
There aren't many bands that have stuck with me for as long as these have and I don't think I could ever tire from them.
Anyway, back to the night. As Rivers and co entered the stage, the venue erupted with fans shouting and a wave of W's being held up in their hundreds. A cheeky little smile from Rivers and into the set we go, Starting off with Anonymous, Hash Pipe and My Name Is Jonas, you instantly settled into what sort of night this was going to be.
Packed filled with nostalgia as well as a few later tracks it was the sort of night that could transport you to certain points in your life and it just filled you with happiness.
It's very rare you attend shows these days and not just see a collection of phones in the air, and even though this did happen on a couple of occasions, from where I was stood, it was mostly just people having the time of their lives and living in the moment.
Weezer are just a special band and I'm sure there are so many people with their many reasons why this is that band, but they'll always be that band for me.
Perfect Situation, Surf Wax America, Holiday and Only In Dreams some of my highlights of the night, as well as Beverly Hills were they were talking about landmarks around Halifax and changing the lyrics to "Living in Halifax"

Although there wasn't much chat between songs, we didn't need it. We know Weezer, we love Weezer and a beautifully curated setlist of 22 songs was more than enough for us.
