Since his debut in 2017, Yungblud has continued to impress and take the world by
storm with their music, their personality and their vibe. Whilst we started with an
angsty approach with their early music in the debut album 21 st Century Liability, we have seen them go from strength to strength even with changes to their music over the last 8 years.
storm with their music, their personality and their vibe. Whilst we started with an
angsty approach with their early music in the debut album 21 st Century Liability, we have seen them go from strength to strength even with changes to their music over the last 8 years.
Their second album Weird! Showcased their depth and breadth of music and gave
us a taste for more vibrant, songs whilst keeping the personal and emotional feel.
Songs like Cotton Candy, and Parents remain firm fan favourites, but we were also
given deeper songs such as God Save Me, But Don’t Let Me Drown.
We were then all blown away (to space) with the immense cover of David Bowie’s
Life on Mars, which was played for the Mars rover on its debut landing. This was
such a huge turning point for the band’s fame and helped them garner attention to
their sheer range and talent.
In 2022, we were given a self-titled album Yungblud which had a very different
sound to its predecessors, but held strong due to how different, energetic and
engrossing it was. We were given a deeper insight to Dom Harrison’s views on
himself, in a more exposed sense, especially in the final track The Boy in the Black
Dress, but he also gave us some incredibly repeatable songs, like Tissues.
As well as their amazing singles like The Emperor, Yungblud has featured on songs
with huge artists Bring Me the Horizon with their song Obey, we have come to
expect great things from Yungblud – and we have not been disappointed! We had
high hopes for album number 4, and our breakdown of the album below just shows
how that trust was not misplaced.
Hello, Heaven Hello
Who doesn’t love an iconic 8+ minute long anthem? We do, and what a way to
introduce the new era of Yungblud! This song release absolutely blew us away, and
the diversity of the sound, as well as the impossibly improved vocal range from Dom
is what makes this song so unique and stand out. He spoke recently of working
harder on his vocals than ever to achieve the sound, and the effort has not been
wasted.
Idols Pt. I
Idols has a soft, melodic intro with a hopeful sounding tune, but holds a rawer and
more honest feel within the lyrics, adding depth to the song that we have come to
expect and love with Yungblud across their discography. You can see where Dom
draws his inspirations from with sound and vocals, and he does it justice every time.
This is not singular in having a Bowie-esque vibe to it, but it works so well, and it is
impressively nostalgic whilst maintaining its modernity and individuality.
Lovesick
The continuity between the end of Idols, into the beginning of Lovesick is so
pleasing, and helps you get a feeling of what to expect from this viral hit. There’s no
question why Lovesick has gone viral on social media, and why so many fans (both
loyal, and new alike) are playing it on repeat. We found this one to have a good Brit-
pop feel, but it keeps the angsty vibes as a throwback to 21 st Century Liability. You
can’t deny this song is 100% Yungblud energy and the combination of the older
Yungblud vibes, with their newer elevated sound is one that we are here for!

Zombie
This song has been on repeat for us since it’s release recently, and there may have
been some tears shed whilst listening. The video has more than earned every one of its 5.9 million views and counting. Zombie holds such a powerful, and insightful
message that many have related to, or found comforting, especially in the current
climate. The outspoken devotion to our care workers, and those on the NHS is one
the many reasons why so many people love Yungblud. It elicits so many emotions on every listen, and never tires, which is why we’re confident Zombie will be memorable for years to come.

The Greatest Parade
We can safely say that this song would not be out of place in a movie soundtrack.
Picture a dramatic montage in a 90’s movie, and this would fit perfectly – which we say with compliments, as who doesn’t love a good film? The sound feels so natural and it truly showcases the range within the album. The vocal power for the screams, and the higher belts are blowing us away, which is impressive considering how much we loved the final note of Freakshow in the band’s second album!

Change
Change is a slower start, and the reverb effects on the guitars and vocals add a
haunting feel to the song – providing a more immersive experience for listeners, and we can guarantee this will be one to love when performed live. The pace changes throughout are so smoothly done and keep us on our toes whilst still helping it to flow naturally.

Monday Murder
We felt that Monday Murder had one of the more unique feels to it on the album,
which we loved. The joyful sound with the darker tones is expected, but it works so
well for this one especially. Whilst the song is just shy of 3 minutes long, it packs a
punch and gives us a lot, in less time.

Ghosts
A very strong start with the intro melody and instruments. There is such a beautiful
sound to Ghosts, and we love the callback with “Gateway to heaven” linking back to
the first track of the album (Hello, Heaven Hello). Ghosts had our feet and heads bouncing throughout and will make you want to move. We can only describe the
sound as making our brain happy – which I’m sure many with relate to. The
unexpected vibe and pace change halfway through is MADE for crowd interaction,
and it will bring goosebumps to all in attendance of Bludfest this weekend for sure!
The scream near the end of the song is the epitome of a Rock ‘N’ Roll sound, and
made our jaws drop.

Fire
Fire starts with a soft, almost hypnotising sound, but leads and gets bigger as it
goes. We are so impressed with the whole band’s talent on this one in particular, as
the guitars and drums stand out incredibly, whilst not removing from the vocals. The whole album thus far has been impeccably mixed, and the blend of sound is truly standalone.

War
We have a very emotional song with War, and the guitar is spine tinglingly good. This one will definitely be repeated, and we can see it being on a lot of people’s “Top Songs of 2025”. Whilst the muse and inspiration of the song can be left to
interpretation, it is clear regardless that there is so much emotion and soul in this
song, and it really is a beautiful track. War also has a cinematic feel, so we are
intrigued to see if it will be featured in the newly announced Yungblud movie!

Idols Pt. II
So good, they named them twice – and the penultimate track is no exception! Idols
Pt.II might have made us tear up quite a bit, as we embarked on the internalised
view of someone, and how they perceive themselves comparatively to others. It had a more raw and pained feel than its former part, and had a different approach to the definition of an idol. It’s a very beautiful song, and we love that Yungblud continue to pour their heart and soul into everything they release.

Supermoon
The final track is such a perfect closure to the album, and the perfect way to start the album all over again (It’s inevitable, believe us we’ve already listened five times).
Harmonies featured in this help to strengthen the song even further and give it a
choir-like feel which we think is fitting for how much of a community this band has created. You feel fully immersed in the songs, and the feelings, and you make so many great friends amongst like-minded people. This song encapsulates what
Yungblud means to so many, as it reminds you to check on, and love yourself, which is so important and shows how much the band continue to care for their fanbase or Black Hearts Club.

We can safely say that Idols is Yungblud like you’ve never heard them before! This
new era is on track to be their strongest yet, which is no mean feat considering how incredible their previous releases have been over the years. It’s so nice to see the band come into their own, whilst maintaining themselves, and their personalities shine throughout every song.
This album is an unskippable one, and the diverse range of sounds ensures that
there is something on here for everyone. They blend into different genres, and vibes and feels, and it just helps to show how extraordinary this band are and continue to be.

We can’t wait to see what more is in store from Yungblud!
