Zakk Sabbath is Zakk Wylde’s Black Sabbath cover band that he formed in 2014. The current members of the band are Zakk Wylde and John 'JD' DeServio of Black Label Society.
The legendary guitarist and former Ozzy Osbourne and Black Label Society member Zakk Wylde brought his cover band to Manchester Ritz this week with support from Lowen, a Middle Eastern prog metal band from London.
The night started with Lowen whose mix of Middle Eastern poetry paired with trash metal backing the vocals. They were greated warmly by the Manchester crowd and you could see how much fun the band were having up on the stage.
It wasn't long though before we were greeted by Zakk who ran onto the stage holding two wrestling figures filming himself as he pointed them at the screaming crowd before disappearing into the back again.
Then the lights went down and on came the band and the icon himself. Opening the show with 'Supernaut' the crowd were immediately transported back to old school Sabbath as Wylde performed it as authentically as he could, Bringing back the early sounds of the band.
The show was filled with Amazing solo's by all three members and a crowd who just kept getting more crazy as the night went on. Moving around the venue chatting and witnessing other fans experiencing the night everyone had the same feelings and all couldn't put into words how much they were loving the show.
As the show went on we were treated with 'Fairies Wear Boots' 'Children of the Grave' 'Hand of Doom' which Zakk also used to introduce the band and talk about eating Sheppards pie.
To finish the night off we had an incredible version of 'War Pigs' which erupted the crowd singing verses back to the band, as the song continued, Zakk took the opportunity to enter the crowd and perform an incredible solo in the middle of the room. An absolute incredible end to what will definitely be a contender for show of the year.
Zakk Sabbath are currently on their UK tour before heading over to Europe, if they're coming near to you I HIGHLY recommend going to witness one of the greatest guitar players to grace music.
